About The Author
Pia Alicia-Pilar Mogollon-Totton was born in Indianapolis, IN and lived in Baranquilla, Colombia as a child. She was influenced by her multicultural heritage. At the age of 19 she moved to the bay-area and studied film acting under George Kuchar and Amy Zinn. She later moved to Tucson where she had a child and studied theater and writing at Pima Community College. She was inspired by a favorite writing teacher, Joy Oshun, to explore outside of her own realm of knowledge and experience to find inspiration for writing but often weaves her personal story into her work. Pia has written poetry and short bursts of prose for over 20 years. She has developed a passionate interest in science fiction, especially the convergence between technology and social issues. Akashti is her first foray into writing a full-length science fiction novel.
